Telltale Signs of a Good Car Dealer
Telltale Signs of a Good Car Dealer
There are so many car dealers out there, and they come in a wide range of quality. There are some car dealers whose behavior and manner of speech may give you the idea that they are either new to the job or incompetent. Others do their jobs very well, as far as selling cars is concerned. Unfortunately, for many efficient car dealers, selling cars and satisfying their customers are two completely separate things. But then, there are car dealers who are not only good at their jobs and can tell you everything you need to know, but who also respect their customers and recognize the fact that satisfying customers is an essential aspect of a good business.
So, how do you tell the difference? Here are a few telltale signs of a good car dealer:
He or she is friendly, but not too friendly.
Car dealers are trained to have good people skills because their job requires them to be able to connect with potential customers.
They need to gain your trust, and being friendly is one way to do it. But a car dealer who is too friendly is either having a bad day, new to the job, lacks training, or (unfortunately) may be trying to take advantage of you.
He or she shows genuine interest in what you have to say.
A good car dealer will engage a potential customer in conversation about what he or she needs and how arrangements can be made in order to meet those needs. Such arrangements should include the type of car (used or second-hand, this or that model, etc.), payment schemes, special discounts, and other contractual details. In contrast, a bad car dealer will only mouth off details about the latest special offers and what he or she considers to be the best deals, without really taking time to consider how to satisfy your specific needs.
He or she willingly supplies any pertinent information you may ask.
The key to making a wise decision when it comes to buying a car(Interesting fact is that the Danish term is bil) is knowing as much about it as possible.
Customers know this. Car dealers know this. So a good dealer will go out of his or her way to be transparent to their potential customers and will help them access any information that they may require—within reason, of course. Conversely, be wary of any dealers who seem like they have something to hide, or who are not really interested in making sure that you make a wise decision. In all likelihood, these types are just out to make a sale and nothing more.
These are just some of the things that will help you distinguish a good car dealer from a mediocre, incompetent, or dishonest one.
